Before diving into the repair process, it’s essential to recognize the signs indicating that your bending machine cylinder requires attention:

  1. Inconsistent Bends: If you notice variations in the bend angles or inconsistent bend quality, the cylinder might be losing its effectiveness.
  2. Unusual Noises: Grinding, squealing, or knocking sounds during operation can signal internal damage or wear.

The bending machine cylinder is composed of a piston, a jacket, a piston rod, a screw rod and the like. Generally, the oil leakage of the oil cylinder is caused by the aging or deformation of the outer ring of the piston and the inner wall of the outer casing. 

Of course, the direct way is to replace the seal. Generally, the sealing ring used by most manufacturers of domestic bending machines is made in Taiwan and Japan, so the service life of the sealing ring is still relatively long. If the customer’s bending machine cylinder is leaking oil, then when replacing the sealing ring, it is necessary to use high quality and durable sealing ring. The cylinder thus replaced will not leak oil for a long time.

Steps for replacing the seal: Different design according to each bender. I choose a common one to say! The common bending machine cylinder has a worm gear block with a worm wheel and a screw connecting the cylinder piston. First, remove the screw and then remove the screw. At this time, it must be supported by a crane or a forklift. The manpower is difficult and dangerous. It must be slow when hanging the screw, and it should not be damaged by excessive force. 

After removal, you will find that there are many sealing rings on the outer wall of the piston. Generally, it is divided into a dust ring, O-ring, sealing ring, gasket, etc. The most important is the sealing ring. Others do not need to be replaced.

Of course, if the damage is found to be very serious, That replacement is fine.  After replacing the seal ring, it is also necessary to assist external force when loading the cylinder. After all the installation is completed, it is the most important thing. It is to adjust the stroke of the cylinder and the angle of both sides. When debugging, you must first adjust the pressure of the bending machine to about 5-10MPA, then find a few thin plate experiments, repeat the experiment, and then adjust.

Cylinder stroke, generally the right cylinder is the base point, adjust the other side of the cylinder until the angle is the same. Then adjust the pressure to normal, and then find some thick plate experiments. This is basically done!

Properly repairing the bending machine cylinder involves careful disassembly, inspection, and reassembly. Following these steps ensures that the machine operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and extending its lifespan. Regular maintenance checks can help prevent issues from arising in the first place.
