In my experience with hydraulic plate shearing machines, understanding the technical specifications of the NC back gauge is critical for achieving precise cuts. The NC back gauge plays a vital role in positioning the material accurately, ensuring consistent and high-quality shearing results. By familiarizing myself with its specifications, I can optimize the setup and enhance operational efficiency. What is an NC Back Gauge?

1. Scope of the tender

a) Supply, installation, commissioning and performance testing of Hydraulic plate shearing machine with NC back gauge at HARSLE.

b) Supply of 3 sets of all relevant technical documents, drawings, circuit diagrams, maintenance &operation manuals etc. in English both in hard as well as in soft copy & 3 sets of Shear blades as essential spares.

2. General Conditions

2.1. Qualifying Criteria of Bidders

a) Only OEMs or their authorized dealers who have supplied at least two NC Hydraulic shearing machine of similar capacity or more during last three years. Bidder shall submit name and postal address of the two customers or companies where machines are installed with full technical description of the machine.

b) The bidder should also submit the list of all similar capacity machines supplied in India along with contact details.

c) The OEM/ their authorized dealers should have presence in India through their company’s office and/or should have authorized service provider in India, working continuously for at least last three years.

d) HARSLE reserves the right to verify information submitted by bidder. In case the information is found to be false/ incorrect, the offer shall be rejected.

2.2. Delivery period

The delivery period for the machine should be one month from the date of issue of purchase order

3. Technical Specification of Machine

3.1. Description of Machine

a) Nominal cutting capacity and accuracy

i. Mild steel plate having UTS of ~ 440N/sq mm and thickness of 12mm or more

ii. Job cutting width -3000mm or more

iii. Back gauge stroke length 1000mm or more

iv. Back Gauge accuracy: ±0.2 mm or better

v. Square ness of cut plate 0.5mm/meter, or better

b) Squaring and support arm

i. 1 No. heavy duty squaring and supporting arm of length 1000 mm or more shall be fitted at the left hand side of the machine bed. It shall have a wide stainless steel scale fitted on it with zero reference from blade cutting edge.

ii. Two additional front supporting arm of length ~1000mm or more with roller bearing mounted.

iii. The table shall have ball transfer mounted for assisting the movement of heavy plates.

c) Blades –Both ram & bed blades shall have four side cutting edges. Both ram and bed blades will be interchangeable. Blade material shall be- HCHCr/D2 & minimum hardness shall be 55 HRC.

d) Other features of machine

i. Front side digital controller with back gauge adjustments

ii. Back gauge shall be operated on heavy duty ball screws driven by AC servo motors and fitted with absolute position encoders. The encoders shall be protected from the job plate movements.

iii. Strokes: 5strokes or more/ minute

iv. Hydraulic hold down clamps for plate/sheet minimum 14nos.

v. Cutting angle range: 0.5 to 3 degree or higher

vi. Blade clearance adjustment for cutting different thickness of plates (1 mm to 12 mm thick or more )

e) Hydraulic Power pack

The Hydraulic System shall be of Re-circulating Type. Hydraulic Tank should be preferably placed at shop floor. Pumps, Valves, Switches (Pressure & Flow) should be of Make: Rexroth / Yuken / Parker / Hawe/Eaton/Aron/ Dowty. Filter elements should preferably be of Make: EPE / Hydac. No leakage or spillage will be tolerable. Electric motor – Preferable make Siemens /ABB /Bosch/Bharat Bijlee

g) NC Controller

Make of NC Controller- Delem /Cybelec/ESTUN with all necessary software packages for cutting of plates in different lengths.

h) Operator’s panel

Operator’s panel will be in front of the machine with all necessary controls and display for the operation of the machine of size five inch or more.

3.2 Safety features

i. Two no. Emergency stop Push buttons to be provided one on operator panel side &other at another end of machine.

ii. Operator’s hand safety guard shall be provided before the plate hold down plungers.

4. Tools for operation & maintenance: Necessary tool kit shall be supplied with the machine.

5. Essential Spares: Shear blades – 03 Sets (Price of blades will be considered for cost comparison.)

6.Other Spares: Please quote other important spares separately for the machine (for ~ 2000 hrs of operation). Cost of other spares will not be considered for cost comparison.

7. Machine Acceptance Test

Following tests will be carried-out during PDI in presence of HARSLE Engineers at supplier’s work.The same will be repeated at HARSLE after installation.

i. Samples of MS Plate of UTS ~440 N/sq. mm, 12 mm thick 3000 mm long will be cut (clean & burr free cut). The vendor will arrange plate and all necessary items for demonstration of cutting at supplier’s works.

ii. Squareness of cut plate 0.5 mm/meter.

8. Training:

4 days training to be provided to two persons for operation & maintenance at HARSLE.

9. Lay out-

Bidder shall give the floor space required for the machine with accessories after receiving purchase order.

10. Electrical power requirement – Specify the electrical power requirement (KW )of the machine in the offer.

11. Safe delivery at HARSLE:

Suitably rigid packing for all items of complete machine to avoid any damage/loss in transit

12. Warranty- 12 months from the date of commissioning at HARSLE.
