Agricultural Machinery Basics

How Agricultural Machinery Are Made

Agricultural machinery combines heavy plate structures with many bent tubes: ROPS and cab frames, handrails and steps, hydraulic and fuel lines, sprayer booms and implement frames. Tubes are cut on a tube laser or saw, bent on CNC tube benders, and welded to plate parts that are laser cut, bent on press brakes and rolled.

Tube parts in farm machinery are produced in medium batches with many variants; programmable CNC tube benders and quick-change dies make it practical to bend hydraulic lines, frames and guards on the same machine.

Challenges & Solutions

What Matters in Agricultural Machinery

  • Many variants, medium batches

Stored CNC programs and quick die changes make small runs of different tube parts economical.

  • Heavy-wall tubes

Hydraulic bending power and correctly sized dies bend thick-wall tube without flattening.

  • Leak-free hydraulic lines

Accurate bend angles and smooth inner walls keep fittings aligned and flow unrestricted.

  • Large welded structures

Accurate bends and laser-cut notches reduce fitting work before welding.

Panel Bender for Agricultural Machinery

A HARSLE panel bender clamps the sheet flat and forms all four sides in one cycle with universal tooling — ideal for the repeat panels, doors and boxes found in agricultural machinery.

  • Bending length 1400–3000 mm (AutoBend)
  • 0–180° bending angle, 0.2 s per bend
  • Minimal operator skill, fast changeovers

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about machines and processes for agricultural machinery.

Ask our engineers

Which machines are needed for agricultural machinery parts?

A typical shop uses fiber laser cutting and shearing for plate, a CNC tube bender for frames, rails and hydraulic lines, press brakes for brackets and covers, a plate rolling machine for curved parts, and welding.

Can one tube bender handle frames and hydraulic lines?

Usually two ranges are needed: a smaller CNC bender (e.g. ProCurve 18–25) for hydraulic and fuel lines and a larger machine (ProCurve 50 or EcoCurve 63–75) for frames and rails.

What is the minimum bend radius for steel tube?

As a guide, 1.5–2 × the tube outside diameter with a mandrel, and 2.5–3 × without; thick-wall tube can be bent tighter than thin-wall tube.

Does HARSLE supply complete equipment for farm machinery makers?

Yes — laser cutting, shearing, press brakes, plate rolling, tube bending and welding, configured for your parts.
