Tube Bending Machines for Bicycle and Motorcycle Frame Manufacturing

Precise 2D and 3D tube bends for frames, forks, handlebars, carriers and exhausts.

Steel bicycle frame made from bent and welded tubes

Bicycle & Motorcycle Frames Basics

How Bicycle & Motorcycle Frames Are Made

Bicycle, e-bike and motorcycle frames are built from round and shaped steel, chromoly, aluminum and stainless tube. Tubes are cut and mitred on a tube laser, bent into stays, top tubes, handlebars, carriers and exhaust pipes on a CNC tube bender, then welded in jigs and finished.

Frame tubes often need several bends in different planes; a CNC tube bender with servo feeding (Y), rotation (B) and bending (C) axes reproduces these 3D shapes exactly, which keeps frame alignment consistent from the first part to the last.

Challenges & Solutions

What Matters in Bicycle & Motorcycle Frames

  • Accurate 3D geometry

Servo feeding, rotation and bending axes reproduce multi-plane bends exactly, keeping frames aligned.

  • Thin-wall tubes

Mandrels and wiper dies prevent wrinkling and ovality on lightweight thin-wall tube.

  • Mixed materials

Stored programs and adjustable bending speed handle steel, chromoly, aluminum and stainless.

  • Symmetric parts

Program-controlled bending makes left/right and symmetric handlebars identical.

HARSLE AutoBend panel bender

Automate Bending

Panel Bender for Bicycle & Motorcycle Frames

A HARSLE panel bender clamps the sheet flat and forms all four sides in one cycle with universal tooling — ideal for the repeat panels, doors and boxes found in bicycle & motorcycle frames.

  • Bending length 1400–3000 mm (AutoBend)
  • 0–180° bending angle, 0.2 s per bend
  • Minimal operator skill, fast changeovers

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about machines and processes for bicycle & motorcycle frames.

Ask our engineers

What machine bends bicycle frame tubes?

A CNC tube bending machine with servo feeding, rotation and bending axes produces the 2D and 3D bends in stays, top tubes, handlebars and carriers with repeatable accuracy.

Can a tube bender bend aluminum and chromoly tube?

Yes. With the right die set, mandrel and bending speed, CNC tube benders bend steel, chromoly, aluminum and stainless tube; aluminum usually needs a larger bend radius and a mandrel.

How are motorcycle exhaust pipes bent without collapsing?

Exhaust pipes are mandrel-bent: a ball mandrel supports the inner wall so the pipe keeps its round section and smooth inner surface.

Which HARSLE series is suitable for frame production?

ProCurve (18–50 mm tube) with servo feeding and rotation for 3D frame parts; EcoCurve (38–75 mm) for larger-diameter 2D bends.
