Signage & Display Basics

How Signage, Advertising & Displays Are Made

Signs and displays are made from stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized steel, usually 0.8–3 mm. Letters and faces are laser cut, edges are V-grooved and bent for sharp returns, lightbox frames are folded on press brakes, curved signs are rolled, and seams are laser welded and polished.

Every sign is custom and highly visible, so fast, tool-free cutting and mark-free, sharp-edged bending matter most.

Challenges & Solutions

What Matters in Signage & Display

  • One-off custom designs

Laser cutting turns artwork into parts without tooling.

  • Sharp, premium edges

V-grooving before bending produces crisp corners on stainless signs.

  • Invisible joints

Laser welding leaves narrow seams that polish out quickly.

  • Mirror and brushed finishes

    Film-protected tooling prevents scratches.

HARSLE AutoBend panel bender

Automate Bending

Panel Bender for Signage & Display

A HARSLE panel bender clamps the sheet flat and forms all four sides in one cycle with universal tooling — ideal for the repeat panels, doors and boxes found in signage, advertising & displays.

  • Bending length 1400–3000 mm (AutoBend)
  • 0–180° bending angle, 0.2 s per bend
  • Minimal operator skill, fast changeovers

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about machines and processes for signage, advertising & displays.

Ask our engineers

Which machines are used for stainless steel signs?

A fiber laser cuts letters and faces, a V-grooving machine and press brake form sharp returns, and a laser welder joins seams before polishing.

Why use V-grooving for signage?

V-grooving lets stainless and aluminum bend to sharp corners with almost no radius, giving signs and totems a premium look.

What laser power is needed for signage?

For 0.8–3 mm stainless and aluminum, a 1.5–3 kW fiber laser is usually sufficient; higher power increases speed.

Can laser welding replace TIG for channel letters?

Yes. Handheld laser welding is faster, distorts thin returns less and needs less grinding than TIG on stainless letters.
